Did you know? / Interesting product facts
Bergamot and frankincense, the essential oils in this balm, come from rare and unique plants, therefore they must be responsibly sourced.
Bergamot, in the citrus family, is almost exclusively cultivated in a small area around Reggio Calabria since 1750, and its essence extraction currently employs about 4,000 people. The essential oil is obtained from its skin by a process involving scraping and centrifuging. The fruits grow on branches grafted in orange trees, which are screened by pine tree rows from the strong sea wind.
Frankincense is a resin produced by a tree growing in some small areas of Oman, Yemen and Somalia. Its name come from “frank”, “true”, “authentic”, and it has been historically used in spiritual practices as incense and in the Ayurvedic medicine since ancient times.
